«I was contacted by a person named «»Mr. John»» who claimed to be a recruiter for Thiess Pty Ltd, an Australian mining company. He said that there were job vacancies in Canada and that I could apply for the position without any age limit or experience required. All I needed was a passport, and they would provide a free visa, flight ticket, and accommodation. It sounded too good to be true, but I decided to look into it further before getting my hopes up.
After doing some research online and talking to friends in the industry, I couldn’t find any evidence of Thiess Pty Ltd having operations in Canada or offering such incredible opportunities. Additionally, when I tried calling the phone number provided (+1248962946), no one answered.
It became clear that this was likely a scam after all. The promise of high-paying jobs with minimal requirements raised red flags for me. And not being able to verify the existence of the company or reach anyone on their contact number confirmed my suspicions.
I’m sharing this story as a cautionary tale for other job seekers out there: always do your due diligence before pursuing any overseas job opportunity!
